I have been an opera fan for the last 40 years (Diablo 3 Gold). What I have noticed is that there are more sold-out performances, more PBS specials with opera, opera productions being shown at the movie theaters, bigger crowds at opera-in-the-park (at least in SF), more programs for young singers etc etc. Opera is not a dying art. It is actually growing. Smaller companies use technology to compensate for low budget, and set designs have become more creative. I agree with another poster that opera will not appeal to the masses like certain rock stars or rock music, but it is healthier than it was 40 years ago. I recall when I was 18 and Kurt Adler was head of SF opera. As he gave me his autograph, he asked my age, how I got interested in opera, and what would bring more young people to come (Diablo 3 Gold). He did a lot to bring in more fans and SF Opera has benefitted over the years. Opera can do more in the USA, but it is doing well---which I would not have expected 40 years ago when I saw my first opera on PBS (Beverly Sills in La Traviata)---and I was hooked!!!
